Company’s SecureDoc Wins Outstanding Product Achievement Award and Founder Thi Nguyen-Huu a Finalist for Private Sector Innovator Accolade
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario– May 27, 2015 – The Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATAAlliance), the largest high-tech association in Canada, has honored WinMagic’s SecureDoc solution with the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University Award for Outstanding Product Achievement in Advanced Technology at the 30th annual CATAAlliance Innovation and Leadership Awards. CATAAlliance also selected WinMagic’s founder, President and Chief Executive Officer Thi Nguyen-Huu as a finalist for the Telfer Private Sector Innovation and/or Leadership in Advanced Technology award.
The CATAAlliance winners and finalists were selected based on a nomination review by the group’s board of directors, a governing body of Canada’s advanced technology community. The awards are presented in recognition of exceptional contributions made to the creation of science and technology-based industrial strength in Canada.
“The CATAAlliance award validates WinMagic’s commitment to product excellence and our focus on getting the product right,” said Nguyen-Huu, president and chief executive officer of WinMagic. “Such a focus has consequences: We’ve advanced certain technological causes when others shied away from them because we knew in the end they would deliver customer value. We’ve pursued excellence—and accepted nothing less than excellence—even if it took time. Our customers benefitted from this focus. This award recognizes the courage we have shown in our commitment.”
The largest healthcare, finance, education, retail, manufacturing and government organizations worldwide rely on SecureDoc, WinMagic’s award-winning encryption and intelligent key management software solution that makes it easy to secure data. The solution has featured a number of WinMagic innovations, from a version certified by NSA for Secret data back in 2000, to the product’s focus today on “Everything Encryption,” where data is secured on any device and in the cloud while ensuring seamless access and not impeding productivity.
Nguyen-Huu founded WinMagic in 1997 with a vision to create encryption solutions that could meet the most demanding data protection requirements of governments and enterprises.
“There’s a lot of reasons for Canada and the Canadian technology community to be proud of WinMagic, and the awards recognize that,” said John Reid, president of CATAAlliance. “WinMagic represents the very best in spirit, courage and ingenuity—traits that are key to successful businesses in technology.”
