WinMagic’s SecureDoc Extends its Simplicity, Robustness, and
Flexibility to include SecureDoc RME™ (Removable Media Encryption)
WinMagic will demonstrate SecureDoc RME, which makes it
simple for organizations to extend layered data security to now include USB
drives, USB thumb drives, CDs, and DVDs through any endpoint device, for the
first time at the RSA Conference 2007 (Both 513)
WinMagic® Inc., the innovative leader in full-disk encryption, today announced
that it has developed SecureDoc RME in order to provide the marketplace with the
ability to enforce protection for data t rest on USB drives, USB thumb drives,
CDs, and DVDs through any endpoint device. Through its simple design,
robustness, and flexibility, the AES-256 bit encryption algorithm and the
features present in its global winning product SecureDoc™ are available in its
SecureDoc RME™ product to encrypt the most vulnerable of media. Regardless of
whether an endpoint device is running full-disk encryption software or not,
removable media can now be transparently encrypted with SecureDoc RME, and
easily read with WinMagic’s DiskViewer or WinMagic’s ContainerViewer.
Having supported the encryption of mobile devices since 1998, WinMagic has
leveraged its unparalleled experience to make it simple for organizations to
ensure that no unencrypted data makes its way onto removable media. By making it
simple to prevent data leakage by internal employees or contract workers through
endpoint devices onto removable media SecureDoc RME enables organizations to
enforce corporate governance and internal data security policies.
Once encrypted, the USB drives, USB thumb drives, CDs, and DVDs
can be transported to another endpoint device whether in the same office,
another office, another city, or at home, and then viewed by WinMagic’s
DiskViewer or WinMagic’s ContainerViewer. If the receiving endpoint device does
not have SecureDoc’s robust full-disk encryption software running, an end-user
can download the necessary authentication software to view the data contained on
that particular removable media device in a matter of seconds.
Offering end-user authentication beyond its competition,
WinMagic allows the end-user to authenticate themselves through password and/or
hardware token. In this unique competitive advantage offering, WinMagic displays
its thought leadership and innovation in meeting the anticipated demand for two
factor authentication when accessing encrypted removable media.
“WinMagic is focused at providing protection for data at
rest, no matter where that data may reside,” explained Mr. Thi Nguyen-Huu, CEO &
President of WinMagic Inc. “As the storage capabilities of today’s removable
devices has increased, it has become progressively more critical to extend data
security policies to protect the sensitive information carried on these portable
solutions from loss, theft, or unauthorized access,” Mr. Nguyen-Huu continued.
“WinMagic’s SecureDoc RME provides robust and transparent encryption for
removable devices to ensure that all data is protected at all times.”
With federal, state, and local government officials as well as
corporate executives worldwide scrambling to comply with privacy and security
regulations and the need to protect all data at rest, WinMagic set out to
develop a solution that would make it simple for organizations to enforce
corporate governance and internal policies relating to data leakage through
removable media. Specifically developed to meet WinMagic’s goal of “whatever you
can do with unencrypted media you should be able to do with encrypted media,”
SecureDoc RME now makes it simple for today’s security-conscious organizations
to protect highly-vulnerable removable media.

RME, WinMagic invites RSA Conference 2007 attendees to visit booth 513.
