WinMagic Seeks Common Criteria Assurance Level 4 (EAL-4) & FIPS 140-2 Level 2 Validations for its SecureDoc Disk Encryption
Mississauga, Ontario, September 17, 2003 - WinMagic Inc. proves once again its unwavering commitment to its customers by seeking Common Criteria, Evaluation Assurance Level 4 validation (EAL-4) and FIPS 140-2 Level 2 validation for its highly acclaimed disk encryption software SecureDoc. It has selected DOMUS IT Security Laboratory as its test lab for this endeavour.
Validation for WinMagic' s SecureDoc disk encryption, Compartmental SecureDoc, and SecureDoc Central Database is expected to be complete by the first quarter in 2004. WinMagic Inc. is looking forward to achieving this level of validation through rigorous testing by the highest security standards available today. Common Criteria EAL-4 and FIPS 140-2 are highly recognized international standards evaluating IT security products and systems.
DOMUS IT Security Laboratory is an independent third party laboratory, specializing in the testing of IT security products.
"DOMUS IT Security Laboratory has a longstanding relationship with WinMagic. We have seen their growth in the security data-encryption field from their initial Accreditation with the National Security Agency (NSA) to their aggressive latest undertaking to obtain both Common Criteria EAL 4 and FIPS 140-2 Evaluations though our Ottawa, ON Canada facility. WinMagic and their clients understand and demand products which have successfully withstood our world recognized testing procedures"
Greg Scorsone, Director, DOMUS IT Security Laboratory
"SecureDoc was the first disk encryption product to be validated for the AES algorithm and to obtain FIPS
140 - 1 Level 2 from NIST/CSE. Common Criteria EAL-4 certification represents the continuation of our efforts
to provide leadership in our industry. It takes considerable resources, both manpower and financial, but the
rewarding results will be the confidence we provide our clients in the level of security that WinMagic products
employ"
Thi Nguyen-Huu, CEO, WinMagic Inc.
WinMagic's SecureDoc encryption software addresses the needs of organizations increasing mobile workforce by ensuring protection of sensitive information stored on desktops and laptops by employing authentication from password to hardware token, biometrics, and PKI commencing right at pre-boot time.
SecureDoc presents a user-friendly solution, providing solid security for PCs and laptops alike by utilizing Public Key Cryptographic Standards PKCS-11. SecureDoc has achieved validations for Common Criteria, FIPS 140-1 Level 2, and SecureDoc's FORTEZZA-based version is the ONLY disk encryption software certified by the NSA to safeguard US government SECRET information.
