Eutron and WinMagic together, to protect sensitive data and "top secret" information
Hannover Germany, 18-24 March 2004 - Eutron, a company specialized in the development of innovative systems for content security and digital identity, and WinMagic Inc., world leader in the development of hard disk encryption software, have announced a collaboration agreement with the objective to meet the user authentication requirements of companies and organizations.
WinMagic has integrated Eutron's authentication technology with its own SecureDoc line of products, offering a flexible solution, aimed at satisfying the requirements for mobility demanded by the market.
SecureDoc encryption software, which protects sensitive information stored on desktops and laptops, deploying user authentication technology even before the operating system boots up, can now be configured to operate with Eutron's multi-function smart cards and USB tokens to provide users with multi-factor user authentication. SecureDoc then encrypts the entire hard disk, to further protect confidential information. Once the initial SecureDoc Boot Logon is completed, the encryption software will prompt the user to plug in a Eutron smart card or token in order to identify himself. By coupling two factors, something the user possesses (a smart card or hardware token) with something the user knows (a PIN), Eutron products make it simple for users to authenticate themselves.

Designed for today's increasingly-mobile workforce, the SecureDoc Central Database management tool allows administrators to install, encrypt and configure user machines centrally, and enables secure, yet flexible creation and distribution of keys and key files, as well as assignment of access privileges to users. Administrators can customize password rules for the entire network, as well as recover lost passwords through a secure one-time challenge and response online engine. Most importantly, the unique design of the SecureDoc Central Database Key file management does away with all the vulnerability aspects associated with the 'Master Password' concept so commonly used by other encryption software. SecureDoc utilizes Public Key Cryptographic Standards PKCS-#11, and has achieved validations for Common Criteria, FIPS 140-1 Level 2.
