WINMAGIC’S SECUREDOC 3.8: THE FIRST DISK ENCRYPTION SOFTWARE SOLUTION TO PASS THE DEFENSE INFORMATION SYSTEMS AGENCY’S (DISA) JOINT INTEROPERABILITY TEST COMMAND (JITC)

SecureDoc Full-Disk Encryption Solution Now Certified To Integrate With The Department Of Defense’s JITC-Issued Public Key Infrastructure Software Certificates

Mississauga, Ontario, February 14, 2005 - WinMagic Inc. (www.winmagic.com), the innovative leader in full disk encryption solutions is proud to announce that SecureDoc Version 3.8 is the first encryption solution to pass the Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC).

“WinMagic is very honoured that SecureDoc is the first full-disk encryption solution to pass DISA’s Joint Interoperability Test Command,” said Thi Nguyen-Huu, CEO, WinMagic. “This is SecureDoc’s latest in a long list of high-profile achievements that confirm WinMagic’s leadership position in the encryption space which include being the first product to seamlessly integrate with the US Department of Defense’s (DOD’s) Common Access Card (CAC) at boot-logon and being the first product to leverage the DOD’s certificate and Public Key Infrastructure.”

DISA rigorously tested SecureDoc 3.8’s capability to properly use the DOD PKI software certificates issued from the JITC PKI Test Certificate Authority servers and CACs certificates. The test also closely examined the accuracy of the methods SecureDoc 3.8 uses to communicate with the DOD PKI. JITC introduced valid, invalid, revoked, and expired certificates to comprehensively determine if SecureDoc 3.8 complies with the DOD (PKE) Application Testing Laboratory using the JITC Department of Defense Public Key Infrastructure Interoperability Master Test Plan, version 1.2, and SecureDoc successfully passed each test with flying colors.

“WinMagic has always strived to bring market-first functionality to the security market,” said Jim Armstrong, National Account Manager, WinMagic. “This latest certification is yet another example of SecureDoc’s unmatched ongoing commitment to US government agencies.”

WinMagic’s SecureDoc 3.8: The First Encryption Solution to Pass DISA’s Joint Interoperability Test Command
WinMagic’s award-winning SecureDoc product line encrypts a user’s entire hard disk to provide unmatched protection for confidential and sensitive data on laptops, desktops, and PDA devices. WinMagic’s market-leading full-disk encryption solution can also be utilized in conjunction with an existing PKI certificate and PKI public and private keys, and is the only solution that can be configured to seamlessly work with all major smart cards and tokens at pre-boot to provide users with the combined benefits of full-disk encryption and multi-factor positively-authenticated network access. Please visit http://www.winmagic.com/tech_support/token.asp for the full list of smart cards and readers SecureDoc supports.

The SecureDoc Enterprise Server (SES) integrates with Active Directory, LDAP PKI servers to greatly simplify overall management and administration by making it easy to install, encrypt, and configure user machines centrally. As a result, SecureDoc makes it easy for administrators to ensure secure, yet flexible creation and distribution of keys and key files, and just as simple to set individual user access privileges. SecureDoc also provides numerous recovery methods for lost passwords and token to ensure an end user will always have access to their computer. The SES can now deploy and manage users in most diverse IT environments – from LAN (local area network) to WAN (wide area network) to users with intermittent network access via ad-hoc connections or the use of email, or even users with no network access at all. Backed by the best Technical Support Group in the industry, WinMagic is dedicated to providing technical assistance when called upon.

Built on the PKCS#11 standards, SecureDoc’s encryption design has already achieved validations for Common Criteria and FIPS 140-1 Level 2, among others, while its FORTEZZA-based version is also the only disk encryption software certified by the NSA to safeguard US government secret information.
