WINMAGIC INTRODUCES LATEST VERSION OF ITS FULL-DISK ENCRYPTION
SOFTWARE
SecureDoc 4.1 offers faster encryption/decryption,
support for growing list of tokens and smart cards
Mississauga, Ontario, December 8, 2005 - WinMagic (R) Inc.,
the innovative leader in full-disk encryption solutions, announces the release
of the latest version of its SecureDoc (R) line of Windows (R)-based disk
encryption software.
SecureDoc 4.1 protects information stored on
desktops and laptops by encrypting it during your computer's pre-boot sequence
and employing security authentication from password to hardware token,
biometrics, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). The cost of proprietary,
confidential and private data resulting from lost or stolen PCs is becoming an
embarrassing and burgeoning problem for both businesses and governments.
WinMagic's SecureDoc encryption software provides a proven, cost-effective and
transparent method to secure sensitive data from falling into the wrong hands.
The latest version of SecureDoc features several important enhancements, such as
the ability to support Latin language passwords, faster encryption/decryption,
and support for a growing list of new cryptographic tokens and smart cards,
including the Precise Biometrics (TM) 250 MC, the SONY (R) Puppy (R) line, and
the IBM (R) JCOP20.
"SecureDoc 4.1 incorporates features our customers - and the market - are
demanding," says Thi Nguyen-Huu, CEO, WinMagic. "Our added support
for a variety of new cryptographic tokens and smarts cards is a strong
indication of the important relationships we have with the industry's major
security hardware vendors, including Precise Biometrics, SONY and IBM. WinMagic
is continuing to innovate to meet the needs of organizations who must secure
their sensitive data."
New enhancements in SecureDoc 4.1 include:

Multi-language support in the user interface in Windows and
at pre-boot.

for a few specific sectors, SecureDoc performs an integrity check on all
unencrypted hard disk sectors. An integrity check can also be performed on
some BIOS data areas to prevent a user from adding certain types of
unauthenticated hardware peripherals to the PC.
-
Case-sensitive user IDs.
-
Support for the use of symmetric keys in the conversion from
password to token protection.
-
The addition of a password recovery feature to the user
interface of the SecureDoc control center.
-
A Windows interface for configuring boot settings.
-
Easier and more flexible centralized deployment and remote
configuration of SecureDoc clients, including automatic creation of user
accounts when a user is added to computer in admin console.
-
Creation of disk access control profile in admin console
that can be automatically distributed to client machines.
-
Automatic generation of a checksum as an integrity check
whenever any changes are made to the users in the "boot log-on key files" or
"lock users"
lists.
-
A tool to migrate from previous versions of SecureDoc to
version 4.1 and to migrate from the Microsoft (R) Access (R) version of
SecureDoc Enterprise Server (SES) to the Microsoft SQL Server (R) version.
-
Support for new cryptographic tokens, smart cards, devices
and systems,
including
* Precise Biometrics 250 MC fingerprint and
smart card reader
* SafeNet Model 330 smart card
* SONY Puppy fingerprint identity tokens
* Aladdin (R) eToken Pro 64K smart card
