SecureDoc Removable Media

Protect Data

What it does
Protects sensitive data on CDs, DVDs, USB drives and other removable media by fully encrypting these media on a sector-by-sector basis.

How it works
Removable media policy management in SecureDoc defines the rules for how users can move data to the media. Administrators can restrict access to removable media and/or require the encryption of any inserted removable media.

SecureDoc provides centrally-administered and policy-driven control over access to and encryption of removable media. Not only can you use SecureDoc to ensure that data leaving your encrypted computers for other media stays encrypted, but you can also help protect those computers from incoming threats by locking down access to removable media. Audit trails and tracking help you to prove compliance and protect your organization.

Removable Media Encryption gives you the power to fully encrypt USB drives, CDs & DVDs with the same robust sector-based encryption used by SecureDoc to encrypt hard drives. Because SecureDoc interacts with the read/write processes on the host computer, SecureDoc’s Disk Access Control functionality can define policies for all removable media regarding ability to read/write to any disk, including restrictions based on encryption status. All files copied onto these devices are then automatically encrypted with no requirement for user intervention.

Removable Media protection is available as part of a SecureDoc Enterprise client installation (along with Full Disk Encryption) or as a Removable Media Only installation.

Sharing with others
The free SecureDoc MediaViewer application can be installed on non-SecureDoc computers with which you wish to share data. This application provides the ability to access and interact with protected media through a password, but no seat/license of SecureDoc is required (the effect is similar to using Adobe Acrobat™ to view PDF files).
