SecureDoc v6.4 SR1 Release Notes

System Requirements

Note: It is strongly recommended to initially install Full-Text Indexing feature (Full-Text Search) into the Database Engine, before performing an SES installation. More information can be found here: msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143786(v=sql.100).ASPX

During the installation of SES, if Full-Text Indexing has not been installed, a message will appear indicating the absence of the Full-Text Indexing. This message will not allow the user to stop the installation of SES which will require retrofitting Full-Text Indexing into an existing SQL Server.

Note: Use of the SES Console will require the user to have at least local admin rights on the server or client device (e.g. Admin desktop) on which it runs, in order for the console to function properly.

Note: WinMagic is deprecating SecureDoc V4 Pre-Boot Authentication (PBA) support for SEDs in favor of the fuller function, more capable, V5 Pre-Boot Linux (PBL). The existing V4 support for SEDs will remain in the product for the time being but will not be maintained or enhanced. We recommend that customers migrate to V5 PBL over the course of the next year.

The cause of SDConnex periodically crashing was due to the sockets already being closed on the client side (eg. If the client has timed-out).

SD-8805 Self-Help recovery will be displayed at preboot when it is enabled.

Known Limitations

Reference

Description
SD-8714 Under FFE policies, or drives, no trees can be viewed when you wish to add a key.

Workaround:

This is due to the registry becoming corrupt, so it should be deleted.

Delete the following registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WinMagic\SDDB\View and restart SES console.

SD-8885 Inserting a blank CD/DVD doesn't create a log.

When a MacFV2 package with "RME Audit Log" enabled, inserting a blank CD/DVD is not logged and sent to the SES server.

SD-8891 Encryption on a USB will use thorough mode to encrypt even when fast mode is selected.

When a Mac FV2 package has been deployed and Media conversion is selected to encrypt a USB, it will use the thorough mode (when fast mode is selected) to encrypt when exFAT file systems are used.

Configuring Panasonic FZ-G1 for Mouse/Finger Input

Limitation:

  • SecureDoc 6.4.0 will only work if using a mouse for input, the finger input does not work.
  • SecureDoc 6.4.1 will only work if using finger input, the mouse input does not work.

This will cause issues when running an environment which will have a combination of tablets using Mouse/Finger input.

Workaround:

In order to create an environment that uses a combination of mouse/finger input it will be required to install SecureDoc 6.4.0 on the SES Server. A package has to be created and deployed to all devices using “Mouse” input.

After all of the devices using mouse input have been configured, SecureDoc 6.4.1 will have to be installed on the SES server. A package has to be created and deployed on all the devices using “Finger” input.

Note:   It is imperative that the SecureDoc 6.4.1 packages are not re-deployed on the devices using “Mouse” input.

Please note that WinMagic is deprecating SecureDoc V4 Pre-Boot Authentication (PBA) support for SEDs in favor of the fuller function, more capable, V5 Pre-Boot Linux (PBL). The existing V4 support for SEDs will remain in the product for the time being but will not be maintained or enhanced. We recommend that customers migrate to V5 PBL over the course of the next year.”
