(www.winmagic.com), an innovative leader in full-disk encryption, today announces a strategic relationship with Lenovo to assist its customer base in securing sensitive data. WinMagic’s SecureDoc for Lenovo full-disk encryption will now protect all data on Lenovo notebooks and PCs.
SecureDoc for Lenovo offers full support for central management of new self-encrypting hard drives that meet the Opal standard issued by the Trusted Computing Group, including drives from Seagate and Hitachi Global Storage Technology. SecureDoc for Lenovo provides fully managed software encryption for PCs without self-encrypting hard drives.
SecureDoc for Lenovo will seamlessly support Lenovo Rescue and Recovery for 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 environments. Rescue and Recovery is an essential tool allowing users and administrators to restore backups, access files, diagnose problems, and make Ethernet connections when the Microsoft® Windows® operating system cannot start or run correctly. It also enables administrators to deploy critical updates to PCs that are corrupted or off the network, and automatically apply patches to a PC during a restore operation. Rescue and Recovery is included by Lenovo at no extra cost on all ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops.
SecureDoc for Lenovo will also provide transparent pre-boot support for UPEK finger-print sensors built into Lenovo ThinkPad notebooks. This integration of full-disk encryption with multi-factor authentication enables organizations to strengthen data security without negatively impacting productivity. To assist with international customer requirements, SecureDoc for Lenovo will be available in English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.

Also, in the event a password is forgotten or the end-user is unavailable, SecureDoc utilizes centralized escrow and management of encryption keys to ensure critical data can be accessed and thus reduces costly calls to the help desk.
