WinMagic’s SecureDoc full-disk encryption software significantly reduces removable data being accessed should it be lost or stolen
24 April 2012 Healthcare at Home Ltd, the UK’s largest home healthcare provider, has implemented WinMagic Inc’s - www.winmagic.com - SecureDoc full disk encryption solution, protecting sensitive data across multiple platforms. Patient data residing in laptops, desktops and on removable media is now protected in line with the latest privacy and security regulations, significantly reducing the possibility of a data breach.
Established in 1992, Healthcare at Home employs over 1000 staff who provide more than 150,000 patients a year with innovative clinical services in the comfort of their own home rather than in the traditional hospital setting. WinMagic’s SecureDoc full disk encryption solution will protect the sensitive data relating to those patients with high-grade AES-256 bit disk encryption software.
Healthcare at Home has been able to secure over 300 devices since first rolling out the SecureDoc full disk encryption solution in September 2011. Damian Byrne, Healthcare at Home comments, “Treatment outside of the hospital setting is preferred by most patients, and has been shown to improve treatment outcomes and reduce treatment costs. Maximum data availability and security are key factors in enabling our specialist clinical teams to provide an ever-increasing range of treatments that would have traditionally required the patient to travel to the hospital on a regular basis.”
SecureDoc requires authentication at pre-boot to ensure maximum security and full integration with network support within the pre-boot environment. This makes it easier to authenticate users, enforce access controls and manage end-point devices prior to the operating system loading.
Garry McCracken, Vice President of Technology Partnerships at WinMagic, comments, “WinMagic is extremely proud to be named as a data security supplier for Healthcare at Home. We are constantly developing new technologies to combat the risk of data breaches and WinMagic’s innovations have been responsible for eliminating many of the traditional barriers to data protection, making it just as easy to deploy, manage and use encrypted devices. The security of sensitive patient data is of paramount importance and we are committed to ensuring that every measure has been taken in line with the latest privacy and security regulations.”
